Africa boasts of Priests and
Priestesses who are divinely ordained.
They are neither selected by Society nor by man. They have their calling from The Most High. Families will notice something unusual about
these maidens. As the belief has always
been, they commune with God again presumed as
Spirits. Priestesses become well acquainted with the God (Spirit) self very early. They perform spiritual
dances with Spirits (God in his various manifestations). Almost all of them may act as
mediums for consultation including treatment with herbs and without fail, they all sooner or later develop
spiritual traits of actually beholding images and beings not perceived by the
ordinary human eye. They must be sworn
into some form of spiritual secrecy or oath.
The closest replica in orthodox
religions are “Nuns”. However, in as
much as getting into a religious Order as a Nun is deemed a vocation, choice of
the devotee or their families with their approval of their nuclear families,
history have it that Priestesses of La Dadekotopun are not thus selected. Behold their beauty for thyself. Once ordained it is also believed that the maidens
could resist their divine calling but could not be enrolled in it.
This fact has been misunderstood as the concept of God completely disappeared from African folklore. God, Most High replaced with the belief in assumed Deities (lower or miniature Gods) as superiority in God(s) was introduced into African Culture. God in the context of Africa was reduced to "gods" and hence bloodletting and inferior. This had gained roots in African culture which is completely wrong. There is one God. No God in this life must be worshipped with blood sacrifices. God who initiates these Priestesses is the same God of the Catholics, Presbyterians, and all the orthodox religions across the Globe.
Remember that Abraham had Almighty God when he was by himself hence God referred to as God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God never changes. Time the African start interrogating God in whatever form he is worshipped in Africa. Laakpa, Dzorbu, and whatever name God is known by in La culture is in actual fact Almighty God. God, The Father and God the Son is simply ONE GOD. In Nigerian cinematography, Igbo rendition of God as Immiri Ocha and Father Osebluwa is reference to ONE GOD.
